Refund & cancellation.
Hawser is built and operated by Cook Impact Software LLC. We want Hawser to actually work for you. If it doesn't, here's how to get your money back — without arguing, without forms, without a sales call.
The short version
14-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. If you cancel within 14 days of your first paid charge, we refund the full amount. No exceptions, no fine print.
How to cancel
You can cancel any time from Account → Manage Subscription in the Hawser app, or by emailing support@gethawser.com. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep access through the end of the period you've already paid for.
How to request a refund
Email support@gethawser.com from the same email address you used to sign up. Subject line: "Refund request." Body: anything you want, including nothing. We don't require a reason.
You'll get an email confirmation within 1 business day. The refund itself processes through Stripe within 5–10 business days, depending on your card issuer. We don't control that part — we click "refund" on our end the same day we hear from you.
What happens to your data when you refund
Your subscription stops immediately. Your local data (missions, conversations, brain dump entries, rhythm reports) stays on your computer untouched — it's yours, not ours. Your account on our server (used for license validation) is closed; we keep a minimal record that you were a customer for accounting purposes, but no personal content.
If you'd also like your server-side account deleted entirely, mention that in your refund email and we'll handle both at once.
After 14 days
Past the 14-day window, we don't offer pro-rated refunds for the current billing period. You can cancel any time and your subscription stops renewing — you'll still have full access through the end of the period you've already paid for.
Exceptions where we'll refund anyway
Even past 14 days, we'll refund a recent charge if any of these apply:
- The app stopped working for you due to a bug we introduced and haven't fixed yet
- You were billed for a period during which you weren't able to use the app (Hawser service outage, your operating system stopped being supported, etc.)
- An accidental double-charge or duplicate subscription
Email us with the details and we'll sort it out. We err on the side of refunding when there's any doubt.
Partner Program setup fee
The $49 one-time Partner Program setup fee is generally non-refundable once paid, except where required by applicable consumer-protection law. The recurring $12 monthly partner charge follows the same rule as the Personal plan: cancel anytime, no proration of the current month.
Chargebacks
Please email us first before disputing a charge with your bank. Chargebacks cost us significantly more than the refund itself, and every dispute we receive that we could have resolved by email makes it slightly harder for the next customer who needs a real refund to get one quickly. We respond fast and refund generously — give us a chance first.
